INSTITUTE RATIONALE: The purpose of the Lead TA Institute is

• • to assist Lead TAs in preparing for their responsibilities as Lead TAs;
• • to increase Lead TA knowledge of University policies relevant to TAs and their students;
  
• • to enhance Lead TA communication skills to better assist new TAs in developing teaching skills; and
  • to increase Lead TA knowledge of pedagogical skills and student learning.

WHO MAY ATTEND: Departments who have received a TA Departmental Training (TAD) Grant with specific funding for the Institute, may designate a Lead TA to attend. Note that the funding is enough to support only one Lead TA per department. A second Lead TA may be funded upon special request <shirley@id.ucsb.edu>.
